Kedarnath

The Land of Lord Shiva

Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a breathtakingly beautiful temple town situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters in the Rudraprayag district. Encircled by the snow-clad peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas, it is believed that the Pandavas built the original Kedarnath temple to atone for their sins. The trek to Kedarnath, starting from Gaurikund, is both challenging and rewarding, offering mesmerizing views of glaciers and rivers. Nearby, you can visit the Vasuki Tal, a stunning high-altitude lake reflecting the snow-capped peaks.
Badrinath

The Abode of Lord Vishnu

Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is situated at 3,300 meters along the banks of the Alaknanda River. The temple, framed by the Neelkanth Peak, was re-established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. The hot springs of Tapt Kund, where pilgrims take a holy dip before darshan, and the Mana Village, the last Indian village before Tibet, make this destination even more fascinating.

The Gangotri Temple, standing at 3,100 meters, marks the origin of the sacred River Ganga. According to mythology, King Bhagirath’s penance brought the Ganges to Earth. Just 19 km ahead is Gomukh Glacier, the actual source of the river, where adventurers embark on treks through the Gangotri National Park, home to rare Himalayan wildlife like the snow leopard and musk deer.
Yamunotri

The Source of the Yamuna River

Perched at 3,293 meters, Yamunotri is the westernmost shrine of the Char Dham circuit. The temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, stands near the thermal springs of Surya Kund, where devotees cook rice as prasad. The 6 km trek from Janki Chatti offers serene beauty with its lush meadows and scenic waterfalls.
